Why. All the buttons and grooves are perfectly placed. It's such a great mouse. So far so good with mine and working flawlessly.
The weight is perfect also, not too light that it feels like a toy and not too heavy that it's a chore to lug around. It's the perfect size for a notebook mouse - not too small and not too big. The small dongle is housed completely inside the mouse when not in use. The clicks in the wheel feel just right with the perfect distance and feedback between each click.
In terms of durability, I've dropped it on too many occasions to remember, both carpeted and hard floors. The left and right clicks have just the right amount of resistance and feel solid but not too loose or hard to click. A VX Nano sized dongle would have made it better but it's still rather small. I've not installed the Logitech driver so the only buttons that really work out of the box are back button, which is fine for me. I love this mouse.
But if you want to scroll fast, you can also spin the wheel fast even in the click mode and does accelerated scrolling.I used Microsoft's wireless optical 3000 and laser optical 6000 mouses for work prior and VX Revo just blows them out of the water. It's quick and the tracking accuracy is unbelievable compared to the 2 afforementioned ones. The worst thing that has happened was that the scroll wheel seems to get out of alignment, get lodged in place and stops from spinning freely. A strong tug at the wheel usually "pops" it back in place. The scroll wheel is large compared to other notebook mouses so that saves me from having to overly spin the wheel. It looks great, and the best feature is that it's ergonomically perfect (sorry left handed ppl). Had mine for over 2 years.
But there are plenty of other programmable buttons all within reach of your fingertips should you decide to install the driver. You can set the scroll wheel to click or spin freely, which is another awesome feature. I just can't say enough good things about this mouse. It seems like this mouse has been discontinued. I'd definitely buy another one if they still sold it.
This is my second VX Revolution wireless laptop mouse. You will normally want to use it in one of the "click" modes.Fourth, the app that comes with it is easy to use for setting up features.Fifth, two Zoom buttons let you zoom in our out on your screen when using a browser, so that you can enlarge type or zoom out to see more of a large page. Finally: the gliding action (a laser light) is smooth and works on a variety of surfaces. which make it a bit pricey, but the quality is superb and the features I do use are worthwhile.First, the wireless range is excellent. You'll need a mousepad for that. I've used the mouse in presentations with the laptop about 20 feet away, and it worked flawlessly.Second, battery life is excellent. The first one died after a large number of drops onto my terrazzo and tile floors. The mouse has more features than I really need. These and all other buttons are conveniently located so you can reach them without stretching your fingers.Sixth: the dongle is a solid USB device, smaller than a thumb drive, doesn't get hot, and tucks neatly into the mouse for travel.
I'm still on the battery I put in when I installed the mouse months ago.Third, the wheel has a feature that allows you to vary the resistance to spinning it. You can make it very slick, so that a flick of the finger will take you a long, long way down a list, or you can adjust it so that it has one of several resistance settings that will slow it down with "clicks" that give you more control. It's failed for me only on a clear acrylic surface. There are other features that I won't comment on, but you can find them in the literature.
I have had my first mouse for over a year. I liked it so well I bought my daughter one for Christmas this year, and my son bought me another one for my second computer. They are easy to use and very comfortable in your hand.
Practically I keep my wheel set to conventional both because I do not read terribly long pages/documents and because hyper-scroll seems oversensitive -- a couple times it would start scrolling away when I was moving the whole mouse vertically.Overall, a great mouse. This mouse stands apart for a couple features which are unfortunately tricky to utilize. I have rather large hands (I used to have a huge IntelliMouse Explorer), so the VX Revolution's medium size represented a compromise for me between portability and comfort, and it performs nicely. The seventh "search" button behind the scroll wheel is located between the knuckles of my middle finger when operating the mouse normally, so depressing it requires moving my whole hand. Likewise, the switch toggling between scroll-wheel settings is on the bottom of the mouse, so cycling from hyper-scroll to conventional cannot be done on-the-fly. Though I would have preferred it ship with one of Logitech's Nano receivers, the USB receiver is nevertheless smaller than the average USB memory stick and stows nicely in the back of the mouse for transport. The laser sensor seems to work great on many surfaces though I have not tried too many more complex than my jeans or carpet.
I bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas and it's changed our lives. We watch all our television programs online, so this was much like having a remote control. The mouse works great and we have had zero problems. I highly recommend this product.
